Redfish Charters in Fernandina Beach, Florida

Fish for Redfish Around Amelia Island with Capt. Chris Cannon

If there's one fish that belongs on the shortlist when you're fishing Fernandina Beach, it's redfish.

They're one of Capt. Chris Cannon's primary targets and a big part of the inshore fishery around Amelia Island.

Book a private Loose Cannon charter and spend the day working the local creeks, flats and backwaters for reds.

Redfish Fishing in Fernandina Beach

Fernandina Beach has enough of a redfish following to host its own Redfish Spot Tournament.

For visiting anglers, the attraction is pretty simple: you can target these fish without having to make a long run offshore.

The creeks, flats and backwaters surrounding Fernandina Beach give Capt. Chris different areas to work depending on the conditions that day.

Come fall, Capt. Chris also works the boat's 5 foot tower to sight fish for reds holding up on the flats.

A Private Redfish Trip

Loose Cannon fishing charters are limited to three anglers.

That means you're not sharing the boat with another group, and we're not trying to run a one-size-fits-all fishing trip.

Capt. Chris can work with beginners and kids just as easily as anglers who already have plenty of time on the water.

You bring your group. We'll bring the gear and go looking for reds.

Built for Fernandina's Inshore Water

We fish aboard a 2024 Mamba 227VX, a 22 foot 7 inch shallow-draft bay boat.

The boat's shallow draft lets us work inshore and backwater areas, while its open casting decks give anglers room to fish.

A Power-Pole shallow-water anchor helps Capt. Chris set the boat on flats and structure quickly and quietly.

We also carry a wireless trolling motor, GPS, fishfinder, live bait well, tournament-grade livewells and a 5 foot sight fishing tower.

What's Included on Your Redfish Charter

You don't need to bring your own fishing setup.

Rods, reels, tackle, live bait and lures are provided, and our group fishing license covers everyone aboard.

If you keep a legal catch, we'll clean and fillet it for you at no additional charge. Catch and release is always an option too.

Coming From Jacksonville?

Fernandina Beach is an easy option for anglers staying in Jacksonville who want to head north and fish Amelia Island.

Jacksonville has a major fishing scene of its own, but you don't have to stay within the city to book a day on the water.

Make the short drive north, meet Capt. Chris and spend your trip fishing the waters around Fernandina Beach.
